My Superpower

I’ve never really sat and thought about what my superpower is and how it has evolved throughout my life! But I’ve been sat working it out for some training that I am doing and I wanted to share my story with you.

After a lot of thinking I would say that my superpower is that I can take an idea and bring it to life. It started when I was a little girl, I always loved being creative, drawing, making things and was always rearranging the furniture in my bedroom! I also remember making art to hang on my walls and decorating my mantle piece with glass bottles and accessories, yes I had a fireplace in my bedroom! I always loved art through school and chose to study both art and textiles for GCSE and A Levels. I then went on to study Decorative Artefacts at University. Throughout my degree I always wanted to create 3D work which created a talking point and had a purpose like this vase made of denim, lamp made of fabric and wax and room divider made with ski poles!

When I worked at Harrods I suppose was when I first started taking ideas and turning them into designs. I worked with both the marketing department and creative team to design the front windows. Did you know that the Harrods windows are sold to brands for each window scheme? Great marketing to have your products shown in one of the most luxurious stores in the world! So I would speak to the brand and find out what they wanted to market in the window and then look at our window scheme and bring the two together into a design which was then signed off by both creative and the brand. This was then used to create the windows.

Next I worked for Ralph Lauren where I designed the interiors of the London stores. Every space in all of the London stores is redesigned every time a new collection and season of clothing comes in! So we changed everything from the art work on the walls to the rugs, the props and decorations used and then the styling of the mannequins! Each season we worked on a different theme and each store has a very different style. In Bond Street we would use grand piano’s and Ducati motorbikes and in Brompton Cross we would use chair lifts to old spiral staircases! I also loved working on the room sets for the home department.

Motherhood bought us back home to the countryside so this is when I did some more event styling, which seemed appropriate having grown up in a wedding venue, Bix Manor. I have styled various parties and weddings over the years.

And this takes us onto now! And as you probably already know, I love to help people work out what they truly love and show them my vision by designing their homes. I then bring these designs to life to create happy homes that reflect my clients personality and style so that they can show off their homes when entertaining. I strongly believe that ‘Happy Homes make Happy People!’

If you would like my help designing and creating your dream home then get in touch, I’d love to help you.
